Shark Fin Soup Should Be Banned

Shark fin soup should be banned. Today mainly to meet the demand, about 26 to 73 million sharks are getting killed and each year the number would increase. It would increase because more people can afford it. More sharks are being killed then they are being born. Now about one third of all shark species is now threatened with extinction. This would affect the ocean ecosystem .Shark finning involves a hot knife using it to slice the shark fins off when the shark is alive. Then when they are done finning they throw it back into the water and the shark either bleed to death or suffocate. This is very cruel. Shark oil is used in makeup and cosmetics. Shark cartilage and shark liver oil end up in dietary supplements. Shark skin leather is turned into wallets and leather belts. They don’t use the rest of the shark to make these products often because it’s not worth a lot of money to them. Shark finning is illegal but fishermen still do it because they make lots of money. These are the reasons why shark fin soup should be baned.

“Alone” Images

I chose to write about a poem called Alone. The images I see are a little girl who is always alone wherever she goes. It gives me the feeling of depression and it feels so alone.  In my mind I see a girl class doing a project will always be alone because no one ever notices her. No one ever by her side. When she has problems, she cries in the corner by herself. She is not noticed by anyone. She fails when she would trys. She cries and cries everyday until she cries out. The girl feels that she would live her life alone and alone she will die alone. Those are the images I see in the poem Alone. I like this poem because I think it could really describe someone’s life or what they are going thought right now. It can also tell us how hard life is for them and how he or she feels when all around her people are together and she is not with them. That is why I choose this poem.

Conflict in “Returning to the Ancestral Home “

In the story “Returning to the Ancestral Home”, there are many examples of person vs. person conflict. A person vs. person is were a persona and another person disagree on something Mao Sheng a young boy is returning to his Ancestral home to take care if his grandfather. There makes a lot of conflict between his dad and him. For example, Mao Sheng would rather be at home, warming up with his teammates for a big soccer game. But his dad forced him to go visit his grandfather because he was the eldest son in the family. In Chinese tradition the eldest son holds more responsibility. These are the examples of person vs. person conflict.
