The Dalai Lama

A poor boy name Lhamo Thondup was born in Tibet on July 6 1935. His parents believed he was the reincarnation of the funny holy Thirteenth Dalai Lama. At four years old, he was raised as His Holiness, the Fourteenth Dalai Lama and taught by brave Buddhist monks. When he was twenty-four years old the was forced to flee his beloved country because of a violent Chinese occupation in 1959. For over forty years he lived in exile in the Himalalyan town of Dharamasala, India remains the hardworking spiritual and political leader of Tibet. His goal is to return to his beautiful homeland someday by making peace with China through non violent means. In 1967, he made his first trip outside of India to get international support to free his country and make people aware of painful human rights violations against his people and keep Tibetan culture alive. In 1989, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
